Genic DataManager is a dynamic platform that is designed for high performance, flexibility, ease of maintenance, component reusability, and scalability, while hiding the complexity of distributed processing from the user.
Genic DataManager adopts a 3-tier software architecture. The first tier is the user interface (client application). The client application can be installed in most Windows operating system such as Windows 2000, XP and Vista. The client application communicates with the Application Server via the web services.
Genic DataManager can be used today within a service-oriented architecture, with full support for web services
The middle tier provides the business logic with specialised components covering security, dictionary functions, timeseries, analytics and reporting. This middle tier uses standard J2EE application servers such as BEA Weblogic and JBoss that can be scaled to provide data loading and access for thousands of processes and users.
The third tier is the data management (server) component. It consists of two data adapters: one for the storage of meta-data and reference data; the other for time-series, vector and matrix data. This hybrid approach maximises our ability to optimise performance, scalability and adaptability.
The Genic DataManager key architectural differentiators are:
- Object oriented data model - The model covers all classes of critical enterprise data: instrument, entity and business activity.
- The real-time Golden Copy process uses template-driven validation and completeness checks, and drives real-time, event-driven publishing. This meets different demands for data quality, speed and flexibility from data-consuming applications without costly replacement of legacy systems.
- Message-based and event-driven architecture offers guaranteed delivery, high availability and continuous real-time processing. This architecture allows unparalleled ease of integration with other message-based enterprise technologies such as EAI and workflow.
- User Interface is fully configurable and customisable, with unlimited scalability. Standards-based, it is designed for straightforward integration with an organisation’s established security and authentication framework.
- Architecture uses de-facto market standards and best practice at all levels. No proprietary database or middleware tools are used with the ability to interface with industry standard presentation tools, like Business Objects and Cognos. Genic DataManager can be used today within a service-oriented architecture, with full support for web services.
- Taxonomy: the art of data organisation. Allows multiple methods of data categorisation, including Templates, Groups, Models, Identities.
